A LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Abstract


The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative’s learning technologists, instructional designers, developers, and well-known vendors are rapidly changing the focus of distance learning (DL) from what tools we use to learn, to how those tools help us learn: tracking data about how we learn and informing us on how we can improve with data exchanged via the Experience API. As a project, it’s already changed business-as-usual for open source in government, and it may well change how DL (e-learning, computer-based training/computer-based instruction, interactive multimedia instruction, on-line learning, etc.), business analytics, standards, open source and community-supported work in government develop in the future...
